Hump Day

Have you seen The Heat? I finally saw it last night. Good Lord was that FUNNY. I was actually howling during several different scenes in the film. If you haven't seen it, and the strong comedic work of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy aren't reason enough, here are two more reasons:  Joey. McIntyre.  

Back to business. I was on the Skin Deep database, checking out some of the skin care products recommended by Detoxinista, when I saw a cool feature that I'd previously missed: Build Your Own Report. 

Check it out -- if you can't find a product in the database, but have the packaging or ingredient list handy, EWG will give you what's called a 'provisional report' on the product to help your purchase decisions. Provisional reports are for personal use only, and aren't made available to the public, but hey, what a great tool to approximate how healthy or toxic a product is.

I've been trying to cross-reference what's in my vanity, but a number of products just aren't in the database. This will be great to fill in the blanks, or when I'm in a store and am stumped on what to buy.

Disclaimer:  The Build Your Own Report feature requires user registration. Some folks just aren't interested in sharing their email address and getting more unsolicited emails. But seriously, what's a couple extra email messages compared to a healthier body and lifestyle? That's a easy one for me.

Of course, if you don't see a favorite product in the Skin Deep database, make some noise about it! Shoot the manufacturer a note saying that they need to man up and make sure their products are listed. Transparency, that's what we're looking for here.
