Now the majority of us don't live in the 'couture' world -- I mean, I'm too cheap to pay $16 for natural body lotion -- but there's no denying that the style trends in our favorite stores are born on the runways.
So what's coming down the line? I perused the major collections, looking for beauty styles that are current but wearable. After all, few of us can rock the heavy winged lid or glittered lashes as a day look (but if you can, go for it!). While each fashion house used a specific look to showcase its collection, there were a few common, and very current, trends:
Eye Liner isn't just for cat eyes. The models for Stella McCartney were rocking a tough pointed shape around the eye, and Versace showed us a new twist on the classic black smoky eye. Scared? It's ok. You don't have to go full-on raccoon here. Even a more neutral liner and shadow (gray, lighter browns) can be used for a really dramatic, flattering look.
Matte, dark lips. Color was seen in splashes here and there around the eye for PFW, with the occasional bright lip, but Altuzarra zeroed in with a classic, sophisticated red matte lip. Think Gwyneth Paltrow.
This was the trickiest look; all of the current products I found in the Skin Deep database for 'matte' or 'suede' or 'velvet' lips came up with alarming ratings. BUT, there were a bunch of lip liners that can give you a much safer version of a full, color-rich kisser.
If you need a real distraction, you can check out Vogue's beauty roundup here and the same from Harper's Bazaar here. It's, er, amazing to read about their inspiration and, uh, the vision behind bringing these looks to life (omg, sorry, I could barely keep a straight face there, bahhahahahhahaha).
Love or hate any of the products I've mentioned? Tell me about it! And there are no kickbacks here, I promise. All recommendations are based solely on a product's rating in EWG's Skin Deep database.

Jazzy

- Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil is a perennial favorite for smoky eyes. Check it -- the 'Vintage' colors are on sale for a crazy low price. Go!
- Neutrogena's Nourishing Eye Liner has a permanent place in my makeup bag. Goes on smoothly, comes off easily and is just 7 bucks!
- Beauty Without Cruelty, Maybelline and L'Oreal also all have a load of great shades that get really low toxicity ratings
Bold brows for a touch of androgyny. It's not for everyone, for sure. But even a little more definition than you're accustomed to will go a long way to a fresher look. The fuller brows at the Jil Sander collection are a great example.
- I love LORAC's Creamy Brow Pencil, but the brunette shade is the only one that gets a green rating (0,1, or 2) from EWG. The auburn, dark brown and blonde shades are loaded with parabens. Yuk.
- But Maybelline is rocking the category with ALL shades of their EyeStudio Master Shape Brow Pencil scoring a '1' rating. Plus super cheap and easy to find!
- Boots No7 (at Target) and Jane Iredale also got really low ratings from EWG.

- Too Faced scored a "1" from EWG for 4 shades of its Perfect Lips liner pencil.
- Urban Decay does it again with its 24/7 Glide-on Lip Pencil (6 shades all with just a "2" rating)
